Call me old fashioned but I like the hard copy. i think maybe you could offer both of course with teh electronic copy being cheaper. i have no problem paying more to get the hard copy. just saves me some running around time
Frank till Kinkos and other get setup to use this new format from AutoDesk I think that is exactly what we will do. Like I said the main thing I was trying to find out was if there was even a need for electronic files. I suspect very soon that printing these at Kinko and such will be common. at that point We may want to look again due to the elimination of the need for postage and the security this format has.

Electronic or mail. I have them and whatever method will continue to use yours. Like thought though if something happens to set and need another set quick printing off would be great

Stan this is an advantage. For example I like to take and glue the profile to the wood I am cutting a mold from to have a good crisp line to follow on the band saw. If you have a copy that you can reproduce you can do this over and over.

Maybe you should just sell the plans as you have been and include Michael's email address. Then if some wants or needs an electronic copy they could email Michael and ask for it.

It would be nice to be able to make more than one copy so you could cut one up for templates without destroying your original.

I would prefer the DWF files. They are easier to store than paper. I have paper plan originals that are only used for copying that are starting to suffer from mishandling by the guys behind the print shop counter. Every little crinkle shows up on the copy. My local SOS can handle DWF files, but interestingly enough, they give me a hard time with copying plans if they have a copyright on them.

For those, like me, interested in the geeky details, here is a DWF FAQ.

The OLF copy right express that they are intended for sale so no problem there. Glad to hear that SOS is ready for DWF files this is a good thing. Wake up the rest of you printers this will become a major format for proprietary drawings. Those that have already purchased a set of my plans from the forum If you want a DWF file I will provide it with a viewer. I will get lance to e-mail a list of those that have purchased already. There will be DWF file for each page of the plans. So if the plan is a three page set there will be three DWF files.

That is the local SOS. They are located in a boat building industrial area so are familiar with all forms of CAD. I don't know about SOS in the rest of the country.

It won't be long in any case. I talked with our local Kinko's and it is becoming very wide spread quickly.

Michael, I bet there is no problem finding someone in the DC area to print them (way to many military contractors ). I personally like the idea myself though I did vote for hard copy.

Monday Lance is going to give me a list of who bought what plans so far. SO those that have bought plans and would like DWFs and the viewer printer software, please PM me your e-mail address and I will e-mail them out to you next week.

After talking with the local Kinko's Mgr hear He said that it should not be a problem printing with this format in most major meto areas. Like I said this quickly becoming the format of choice to transmit non-editable autocad drawings from the engineering and drafting firms to the end users. This format is actualy so easy to use it is rediculous.

Anyway If you want em let me know by PM
